Bengaluru: Halsoor Gate police have filed an FIR against the miscreant who circulated letter in the social media in the name of State Intelligence Branch that Chamundeshwari constituency is not viable for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. In the letter, the miscreant has suggested four other constituencies.

An FIR has been registered based on the complaint by State Intelligence Branch administration/political desk DySP B S Shanthakumar. On April 5, fake intelligence news under a fake letterhead, undersigned by ADGP (Intelligence Branch) was served to the media. The DySP said that the incident brought dishonour to the department.

“Moreover, there is no post of the ADGP in the Intelligence Branch. Even the address of the SIB office doesn’t match with the mentioned address. There are doubts about the seal as well,” the official informed.

In the name of Government of Karnataka and State Intelligence Branch (SIB), a small report of a review of Chamundeshwari Assembly constituency was referred to the Chief Minister and Home Ministry.

The report says that Chamundeshwari constituency is not viable for the CM as JDS candidate G T Devegowda is organizing Okkaligas. The Chief Minister may contest from Varuna of Mysuru, Basava Kalyana of Bidar, Gangavati of Koppal or Shanti Nagar of Bengaluru, it suggested.
