Bengaluru: An FIR has been registered against a popular Kannada reality TV show anchor for allegedly organising a packed wedding at a resort near Bengaluru during the ongoing lockdown.
According to a report by OneIndia, Akul allegedly made preparations to organised the wedding on April 18 at a resort named Sunshine by Jade in Doddaballapura, despite there being a restriction on gatherings due to the coronavirus.
The police rushed to the spot after receiving a tip-off from the locals.
It is also reported that nearly 20 people from Bengaluru had attended the wedding ceremony.
News agency ANI, tweeting about the incident, wrote, “An FIR (first information report) has been filed against a Kannada TV anchor allegedly for preparations to organise a guest packed wedding at his resort near Bengaluru, Karnataka.”
According to ANI, the FIR has been registered under the National Disaster Management Act (NDMA) and Section 188 and 269 of the Indian Penal Code.
Apart from being a reality TV show host, Akul Balaji is also a film actor and dancer. He has worked in Kannada and Telugu languages. He is known for his work as an anchor for shows like “Mane Munde Mahalakshmi”, “Pyate Hudgir Halli Lifu” seasons 1 and 2, “Hosa Luv Story” etc.
