
Bengaluru: The final rites of well-known Kannada scholar M Chidananda Murthy was held with full state honours in Sumanahalli electric crematorium.
Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and others were present at the time of the final rites.
In the Veera Shaiva community, the bodies are buried, but as per the last wish of Chidananda Murthy, it was cremated.
His students and fans from across the state arrived at his residence in Hampi Nagar and paid their last respects. Later, the body was taken to the crematorium for the final rites.
Chidananda Murthy died due to a brief illness and age-related complications in a city hospital on Saturday, January 11 early morning.
