Bengaluru: The state election commission has published the final electoral list. As per the list, 5.10 crore voters are eligible to vote in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The polling will be held on April 18 and 23 in the state.
Speaking to reporters, state chief election commissioner Sanjeev Kumar informed that this number was 4.62 crores in the 2014 elections.
Among the voters, 2.58 crores are male while 2.58 crores are female and 4,661 voters are others.
“A total of 10 lakh new voters in the age group of 18 to 19 have registered their names for this election. They are the first time voters,” he said.
“The highest number of voters are in the age bracket of 30-39 years and their numbers stand at 1.39 crore,” he said.
Kumar informed that, across the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies, 58,186 polling booths will be set up. In the first phase, voting will be held in 30,164 booths, while in the second phase polling will be held in 28,022.
“Another 39 booths will be managed by tribal officers. These booths are called ethnic booths,” he said.
Kumar informed that 237 candidates are contesting in the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies. “With just five candidates, Raichur becomes the constituency with the lowest number of candidates in the fray, while Belagavi has 57 candidates, making it the constituency with the highest number of candidates,” he explained.
