Festival bonanza: Anganwadi workers see steep increase in salaries

Bengaluru: In a big relief to thousands of Anganwadi workers, the state government has announced a steep increase in their salaries. This increase is applicable even for Anganwadi helpers.

This revision will be applicable from October 2018. This means that the workers are eligible to receive a year’s arrears, and soon.

According to the latest notification issued by the state Department of Women and Child Development, the salary of the Anganwadi workers has been increased from Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000. The salary of mini Anganwadi teachers has been increased from Rs 4,750 to Rs 6,000 and the salary of helpers has been increased from Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000.

According to Shashikala Jolle, minister of Women and Child Development, the state government is considering the proposal to build hi-tech Anganwadi centres across the state to improve the facilities available for the children.
