Bengaluru: A letter bearing a fake letterhead of the Government of Karnataka and the forged signature of the Chief Secretary’s personal secretary was sent to a government official on WhatsApp on Saturday, April 6.

Shivshankar, the government officer had received the fake letter on WhatsApp, wherein a request was made to allocate the candidates, selected through direct recruitment, to the proper locations.

The message was made to look like it was sent by the Chief Secretary’s personal assistant, Tukaram Kalyankar’s office, located in the Vidhana Soudha. However, suspicious of the WhatsApp message, Shivashankar immediately brought it to Tukaram’s notice.

After a thorough check of the message, Tukaram confirmed that the signature on the letter is not his and that he did not send any message to Shivshankar to WhatsApp. He then brought this to the attention of the Vidhana Soudha Police and requested them to investigate the matter.

A complaint in this regard has been filed in the Vidhana Soudha Police Station.
