Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has asked the City Police Commissioner and DGP to take appropriate action following the recent incidences of errant behaviour by Bengaluru Traffic cops that sparked public outrage.
While Assistant Sub-Inspector Narayan R. was recently suspended for kicking and assaulting a specially-abled woman after she allegedly threw stones at the police. In another incident, a viral video from Saturday January 29 showed traffic cops pulling a delivery executive’s vehicle away.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Ravikanthe Gowda B. R. launched an investigation and ordered the towing of vehicles to be suspended, as well as the temporary removal of the ASI involved.
Before towing a vehicle, the Police is mandated to make an announcement, but they allegedly did so without notice in this case. The delivery executive can be seen racing behind the vehicle, pleading with them not to take it away, in a video shot by passers-by. The locals said that executive allegedly received his motorcycle back.
