Bengaluru: Former minister, MLA Roshan Baig said that he suspects that in Karnataka, efforts are being made to make the Congress party Muslim-free (Muslim Mukt).

Speaking to reporters, he alleged that KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao, former CM Siddaramaiah and AICC Karnataka in-charge K C Venugopal are behind this conspiracy.

“Party tickets are being denied to Muslim leaders with the excuse that they cannot win. I would like to know whether all those who are contesting in the 21 Lok Sabha constituencies can win. This is an excuse given to deny tickets to the Muslims,” he alleged.

“The Congress is a secular party. It should give tickets to all. I will raise the issue with the AICC leadership,” he said.

It can be recalled that the JDS and Congress alliance has given only one ticket to a Muslim candidate in Karnataka, while no Christain candidate has been fielded.
