ED issues notice to Roshan Baig’s son for FEMA violation

Bengaluru: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) issued a notice to Urban Development Minister R Roshan Baig’s son, R Ruman Baig, for allegedly violating foreign exchange norms.

The ED sources said his firm Ruman Enterprises, which is into software publishing and consultancy, was issued the notice under the Foreign Exchange Maintenance Act (FEMA). The ED alleged the firm had received unaccounted-for funds from an Arab-based firm. Minister Baig and his daughters are directors of the company. “We have not yet received the notice. Whenever we get it, we will consult our auditor and reply to it,” said minister Baig.

The sources said there are records to prove that the firm had received crores of rupees in various currencies as investment, but the company hadn’t allotted any shares to investors.
