Bengaluru: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed IAS officer Mohammad Mohsin from Karnataka, who was suspended last week after checking the helicopter of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Odisha, to report at the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka in Bengaluru.
According to sources privy to the developments, the ECI, which had asked him not to move out of Odisha’s Sambalpur pending an inquiry, has now asked him to report in Bengaluru.
Mohsin, a Karnataka cadre IAS officer working as the secretary to the Government of Karnataka at the Department of Backward Classes Development Department, was suspended for searching the helicopter of Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently, which led to a massive controversy. Opposition parties demanded the ECI to revoke its order as he was merely doing his duty, but the ECI argued that he violated the SPG rules.
