Bengaluru: The Halasur police, on Tuesday arrested four students of a private college for an assault on two policemen, attached to the station while they were on patrol duty late Saturday night.

As per the police, cops – Nagaraj M.K. and Madhu H.S. had approached the students who were creating commotion near 1 MG Mall here in a drunken stupor and asked them to leave the place. However, the students started abusing the cops, and one of them twisted Nagaraj’s arm, while the others beat up Madhu. They even torn up the uniforms of the policemen.

The duo then called the police backup and the students identified as Somesh P.S., Shushant, Tanish Adarat, and Nadeem were arrested under Indian Penal Code sections 332 and 353. A medical examination has confirmed that the students were under the influence of alcohol.

Though the sections are non-bailable, the students were released on bail to write their examinations, said a police official
