Bengaluru: The Banaswadi police on Tuesday arrested a man accused of burning his spouse’s private parts by using a hot iron box for failing to meet his dowry demands.

The incident took place on Sunday late night when Dilip Kumar, a resident of Janakiram Layout picked up a quarrel with his wife after coming home in an inebriated state. While fights between the couple was an usual occurrence on Sunday, an irked Dileep mercilessly assaulted his wife where after he used a hot clothes iron to burn her body, including her private parts since his wife refused to heed to his demand of dowry and threatened to divorce him.

The victim’s parents who visited the house the next day found her lying unconscious state with injury marks all over her body and immediately took her to a hospital for treatment. A complaint was filed with the police on Monday evening in this regard.

Dileep has been arrested under section 326 (voluntarily causing grievous injuries with a weapon) of the IPC and produced him before a court which remanded him in judicial custody.
