Drunk driver held, cops drop kids to school

Bengaluru: A rare incident of a traffic police inspector dropping six students to their school in his official vehicle took place in Bengaluru on Thursday when their bus driver was caught driving in an inebriated condition.On?Thursday morning, Shanthakumar, a constable with Basavangudi traffic police station, was on duty near Ramakrishna Ashram on Bull Temple Road when he found Dharmendra, driver of Sri Ram Vidyalaya school bus, driving in a rash and negligent manner.

Traffic police constable Shanthakumar halted the bus and found that Dharmendra was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Shanthakumar alerted inspector Vijaykumar who went to the spot and booked Dharmendra and produced him before the court.

As the students were getting late for school, Vijaykumar dropped them in his official vehicle. The school authorities were asked to produce necessary documents of the seized vehicle. A case was registered in Basavanagudi traffic police station against Dharmendra.
