Double-Decker Train to chug off from Metro to Chennai on April 25

Bangalore: The much awaited double-decker train will begin its maiden service from Bangalore – Chennai on Thursday April 25.  It was delayed owing to poll conduct at the backdrop of upcoming assembly elections.

The experimental run of double-decker train was held during February.  The double-decker train has 25 compartments.  It will chug off from here on Thursday at 2.40pm and will reach Chennai at 8.45pm.

The same train will leave Chennai at 7.20am on Frday April 26 and reach here at 1.30pm. It will halt at Peramboor, Arallpma, Katpady, Amboor, Jolarapete, Bangarapete, Krishnarajapura and Bangalore Dandu railway station en-route, informed the railway department.

The double-decker train has 11 air-conditioned compartments with 120 seats.  The general compartment has in an average has 90 seats.  It has facilities to recharge laptop and mobile handsets.

The double-decker train fares for senior citizens from Bangalore to Chennai is Rs 440 and for children Rs 250.  The train will run on experimental basis for 45 times on either direction.  It can run at a maximum speed of 160 kilometers per hour.
