Bengaluru: Two minor girls working as domestic helps were rescued from a house on Nandidurga Road on Monday night.
According to the police, the girls are aged seven and 14 years. They were working in a house owned by one Liaqath Pasha, a businessman. Based on a tip-off, the police rescued them along with the Child Helpine personnel and local residents. They have been sent to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
A police officer said, “The girls are in a state of shock and are not revealing anything. It is suspected that they were treated badly. We have asked the CWC to gather information from the girls and then the next step will be taken.”
On Monday night, one of the girls ran out of the house and started pleading with the public to rescue them. The local residents noticed this and informed the police and CWC people who came to their rescue. “They will be given counselling and we will try to locate their parents,” the officer added.
A CWC member said the girls looked weak and were not fed properly.
“The locals told us that a few NGOs tried to raid the house and rescue the girls four times earlier. But during the raids, the girls would vanish and the family members in the house would also go out of station. This time, the girls were rescued when there was no one in the house. It is also suspected that the girls were working in a house in Chennai and were brought to the City recently.”
