Bengaluru has been grappling with an increasing issue of stray dogs, leading to tragic incidents involving innocent people. Recently, a protest in Hubballi demanded better control of this stray dog menace.

In a shocking turn of events, a dispute over a pet dog led to a bizarre incident in Kothanur, where a dog owner allegedly set fire to vehicles belonging to a woman who had filed a police complaint regarding her pet being bitten.

Pushpa, a 43-year-old domestic help, and her son fell victim to this retaliation. They claimed that HMT Rajanna, also known as Nagaraj and the owner of a restaurant in Kothanur, along with his daughter Gayathri Kavya and son Babu, set their vehicles ablaze.

The dispute began when Pushpa was attacked multiple times by a pet dog on her way to work in June. Babu and Gayathri came to her aid, taking her to the hospital for first aid and requesting her not to file a police complaint. Rajanna promised to cover her medical expenses and support her financially until she could work again. However, when he failed to keep his promise, Pushpa filed a police complaint in July. In retaliation, the trio allegedly set fire to both of Pushpa’s vehicles around 3 am one morning.

This incident highlights the seriousness of the stray dog issue and the need for peaceful resolution to conflicts involving pets, emphasizing the importance of community awareness and animal control measures.
