DG Halli- KG Halli violence: CCB issues summon to former mayor R Sampat Raj

Bengaluru: The CCB police investigating the August 11 DG Halli and KG Halli violence, which claimed four lives, has now summoned BBMP former mayor Sampat Raj. He has been asked to join the investigation today at 11 am.

However, Sampat Raj got himself admitted to a private hospital citing poor health.

It can be recalled that CCB police has already arrested his personal assistant Arun Kumar on August 19 in connection to the violence.

R Sampat Raj was representing the DG Halli ward in the BBMP and his term had ended recently.

According to the sources, Sampat Raj is a Congress ticket aspirant from Pulakeshinagar assembly constituency in 2023 election. He is a supporter of KPCC president DK Shivakumar.

Police suspected the role of several local Congressmen in the violence in connection to ticket for the upcoming polls.

The sitting MLA Akhanda Shrinivasa Murthy is a supporter of former CM Siddaramaiah.
