Bengaluru: Former prime minister and Janata Dal (Secular) supremo H D Deve Gowda on Tuesday expressed concern over the adverse judgement of Supreme Court in Cauvery water dispute. Deve Gowda has described the Supreme Court judgement directing Karnataka to release 15,000 cusecs of Cauvery water per day to Tamil Nadu for 10 days as unscientific judgement.
HD Deve Gowda condoles CM's son Rakesh's death-1Speaking to media persons, Deve Gowda said, “The Supreme Court should have constituted a supervisory committee and the members of the committee should have visited the Cauvery basin to know the actual situation before announcing the judgement to release 15,000 cusecs of water per day for the next 10 days. “If Cauvery water is released as per the Supreme Court’s direction, there will be no drinking water for the people of Bengaluru. The Supreme Court directed Karnataka to release Cauvery to save Samba paddy crop in Tamil Nadu,” Deve Gowda said.

He said that some organisations have been demanding the replacement of F S Nariman for his failure in defending Karnataka’s interests in Cauvery water dispute. “Nariman is an experienced lawyer and have a thorough knowledge on Cauvery water dispute. It is not easy to find a suitable advocate to replace Nariman,” Deve Gowda opined.
