Bengaluru: The South East division police of Bengaluru will soon have a dedicated email ID specifically to receive grievances from persons from the North-Eastern part of India who are living here.

M B Boralingaiah, Deputy Commissioner of Police, said this during a grievance session held at a convention centre in Adugodi on Saturday, where around 200 people from Manipur, Assam, Nagaland, Arunachal, Meghalaya among others attended.

Among the concerns raised by those in attendance was the ill-treatment by locals, non-payment of salaries to those working in small business establishments and restaurants, and harassment from landlord who refuse to return deposit amount paid to the house owners.

Saturday’s interactive session was held barely five days after a 20-year-old student from Arunachal Pradesh was allegedly beaten up and forced to lick his house owner’s shoes for using excessive water at his rented house in Arakere. The victim Higio Guntey, a fourth-semester student of Christ University, was admitted to a private hospital and approached Hulimavu police three days later to file a complaint. The owner of the house identified as Hemanth Kumar, an advocate by profession, has obtained anticipatory bail.
