Bengaluru: A computer science graduate has been apprehended for the alleged theft of 133 laptops, 19 mobile phones, and four tablets, collectively valued at Rs 75 lakh, from a paying guest hostel catering to IT employees in the city, according to Bangalore Police Commissioner B Dayanand.
The individual in question, previously employed by an IT company, would reportedly frequent paying guest and bachelor accommodations to pilfer laptops and mobile phones.
Simultaneously, the police have taken into custody two individuals who were involved in selling the stolen electronic devices on the market. Presently, all three suspects are in judicial custody.
In the central division alone, approximately eight cases have been uncovered. Dayanand noted that investigations are ongoing to determine if the accused was involved in additional crimes across other police stations.
Additionally, the Central Crime Branch in Bengaluru has dismantled a significant betting operation, conducting raids at 11 locations and arresting 13 individuals. Law enforcement has initiated 11 cases in relation to this operation and seized Rs 10 lakh from those involved.
