COVID guideline violation: BBMP becomes richer by Rs 3 cr from penalty collection

Bengaluru: Eversince the Corona pandemic broke out and COVID guidelines wee put in place, the BBMP collected a total of Rs 3 cr as penalty from people not wearing masks and not maintaining social distance.

According to a submission made by the BBMP in the high court, over 1.25 lakhs people were fined for not wearing masks and Rs. 2.6 crores has been collected from them.

Similarly, Rs 31.5 lakhs has been collected from those who failed to maintain social distance.

It can be recalled that with a huge surge in the Covid 19 cases in the city, wearing masks and maintaining social distance has been made compulsory across the state. Fine is collected for rule violation.
