Bengaluru: With the idea of decongesting the city railway stations as a precautionary measure to curtail the spread of the Covid 19, the South Western Railway (SWR) authorities increased the platform ticket rate by five folds.
This means, all those who want to enter the platform will now pay Rs 50 per head as against the Rs 10 per head cost that was prevailing till now.
This new rate will be applicable till March 31.
This order will be applicable to all the major railway stations of the city including city railway station, Yesvantpur railway station, Contonment railway station, etc.
According to the SWR authorities, the sole idea behind this initiative is to discourage the people from gathering in large numbers in the city railway stations.
“Every day over 5.5 lakh people visit the city railway stations. So to ensure that Covid-19 will not spread, this decision has been taken,” informed authorities.
