Bengaluru: The reluctance of the ruling party to table the Karnataka State Minority Commission report on wakf properties is likely to spark furore in the Legislative Council from Monday.
The report was submitted by the then Chairman of the Commission Anwar Manippady in 2012 and the BJP has been demanding that the government must table the report. The BJP believes that the Congress is reluctant to table the report because names of some of the senior, influential Congress leaders appear in the report for encroaching the Wakf land in the state.
However , Law Minister T?B?Jayachandra is quoted in Deccan Herald saying that the chair has given the ruling and the Congress has complied with the same. “As per the provisions of the Karnataka Minority Commission Act, 1994, the government has to table the recommendations of the commission along with the action taken report (ATR). We have complied with it. Most of the recommendations made by the commission, including that irregularities in the State Wakf Board be handed over to the Lokayukta for investigation, had been rejected by government,” he said adding that the BJP has been demanding for tabling full report.
On the other hand the BJP has pulled up its socks and decided to disrupt the house till government tables all the documents.
It is said that names of Mallikarjun Kharge, Dharam Singh, C?K?Jaffer Sharief, Rehman Khan, C?M?Ibrahim, N?A?Haris, Iqbal Ahmed Saradgi, Qamarul Islam and Roshan Baig have been named in the report.
