Cops suspended for dereliction of duty in girl molestation case

Bengaluru: Two police officers have been suspended for dereliction of duty in connection with molestation case of a north eastern girl that occured on April 23.

The incident took place on April 23 when the girl, a native of Manipur and a student of city based pharmacy college was allegedly dragged into a under construction building by accused Akshay in public view. According to the victim, the abductor attempted to rape her but she somehow managed to escape.

To her dismay, Chennammana Achukattu police refused to file an FIR based on her complaint. Soon after the media exposed the incident, bowing down to the pressure finally the case was registered on Monday, May 2.

Accused Akshay(24), a cab driver by profession was arrested on Monday.

The CCTV footage flashed by channels showed a lone woman standing on the street and a man grabbing by her waist and forcefully taking her away.
