Bengaluru: Union Minister of Human Resources Development Prakash Javadekar on Thursday, April 19, rubbished Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala’s comments relating to the Supreme Court verdict on Justice B. H. Loya’s mysterious death case.
“The Congress can raise end number of questions. They are all meaningless. The fact of the matter is the Supreme Court has rejected the PIL seeking an independent probe into Loya’s death. The court has reaffirmed that Justice Loya died of natural death,” he told reporters here.
Referring to the apex court verdict, Surjewala had raised 10 questions relating to the case as he criticised the verdict and noted that issue of criminality can be decided only through a probe.
Surjewala also had said it was a “sad letter day” in the country’s history and pitched for a fair probe into the matter. He also had attacked BJP for accusing Congress President Rahul Gandhi for being the “invisible hand” behind the petitions seeking probe and termed BJP’s allegations as a “malicious attempt”, showing its jitteriness”.
Refuting Surjewala, Javadekar said that Gandhi made capital out of it by addressing a press conference and taking 150 MPs at the doorsteps of President of India.
Javadekar said that the Supreme Court dismissed the PIL by saying it was politically motivated. “The Supreme Court found the PIL politically motivated and hence, it dismissed it, and who was behind these petitions? Congress. It wanted to frame Amit Shah,” he said.
Demanding an apology from Gandhi and Congress for trying to frame Shah and BJP, Javadekar said Congress is resorting to dirty politics in desperation as it was losing elections in every state.
“The Congress is going to lose Karnataka too,” he added. Loya had died of cardiac arrest in Nagpur on December 1, 2014 when he had gone to attend the wedding of a colleague’s daughter.
