Bengaluru: The state Congress on Saturday submitted a petition to the Election Commission of India against State BJP president B.S. Yeddyurappa for allegedly violating the model code of conduct while campaigning for Gundlupet bypolls.
In the petition, Congress leaders H.M.Revanna and V.S.Ugrappa alleged that Yeddyurappa during an election rally on March 23 promised the voters that he will adopt Gundlupet constituency if he becomes chief minister. Further it is also alleged that Yeddyurappa asked the voters to take oath in the name of God that they will vote for the BJP candidate in Gundlupet bypolls.
Congress said this is nothing but an “undue influence” on the voters of the Gundlupet constituency.
