Bengaluru: The Congress state unit has decided to hold a mammoth rally in Bengaluru city as run up to the 2018 state assembly elections in the month of December, 2017.
A decision in this regard has been taken in a meeting of OBC leaders of the party held in Bengaluru. AICC state in-charge K C Venugopal presided over the meeting, which decided to invite AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi to the convention.
Addressing the meeting, K C Venugopal directed the OBC leaders to reach out to the masses on the various schemes launched by the state government for the welfare of the backward classes.
Meeting also decided to invite influential leaders from other parties to join the party to extend its influence among the various backward communities.
New president
MLC M D Lakshminarayana has taken over as the new president of Congress OBC cell at the meeting.
