Mangaluru: A list of Congress candidates for the upcoming polls cropped up on social media leaving everyone confused. However, it is now confirmed that the list is just another online prank and is no close to fact.
Acting on time, top Congress leaders cleared air by communicating to netizens that it was a fake list and that the authentic one is yet to be released.
None other than CM Siddaramaiah himself tweeted on these lines and said that it was a product of the fake news factory.
“I am told a list of Congress candidates for Karnataka Election is under circulation. The AICC has not approved the list of candidates yet. The “list” under circulation is fake. It has been done to create confusion. Please don’t patronize products of the #FakeNews factory,” he tweeted.

With fake news galoring, especially on social networking sites, this particular list, which was shown signed by senior Congress leader Oscar Fernandes could have stirred the hornet’s nest for the Congress.
