Cong expels three rebel candidates for six years

Bengaluru/Mangaluru: The Congress on Monday December 14 expelled rebel candidates Jayaprakash Hegde, Harikrishna Bantwal and sitting MLC B T Dayananda Reddy from the party for six years.

Congress to oust rebel candidates from party-1While Jayaprakash Hegde and Harikrishna Bantwal are contesting the MLC elections as independent candidates from Dakshina Kannada constituency, Dayananda Reddy is contesting as an independent from Bengaluru Urban.

Speaking about the same, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the Congress party would not tolerate indiscipline and that the party’s decision will have to be honoured.

The CM had tried to convince the rebel candidates to back the party’s officials candidates, but when it yielded no results, the decision to oust them came in.
