Bengaluru: Union Minister of Statistics and Programme Implementation D V Sadananda Gowda on Saturday directed the railway officials to implement various projects and complete on-going projects on time for the benefit of people in Bengaluru.
Speaking at a meeting convened for elected representatives and railway officials to review the progress of various projects in and around Bengaluru, Minister Sadananda Gowda gave a stern warning to the railway authorities for their failure or negligence in implementing various infrastructure projects.
“I will not tolerate negligence in implementing the infrastructure projects that were pending for quite a long time. I know that you want to delay the implementation of the projects on one or the other pretext. I want to make it clear that I will not tolerate the delay in implementing the projects. You have to take all measures to complete the pending projects and commence the work on the projects that are yet to take off even after years,” Minister Sadananda Gowda said.
He added that the state government has agreed to provide financial assistance for the infrastructure projects such as railway over bridges and under bridges and also skywalks. “There are many projects that are pending for long time. It is estimated that around Rs 1,000 crore required to complete all these projects. If these projects are completed, the traffic congestion on the city roads can be reduced by 15 per cent,” the minister said.
The minister also expressed displeasure over the garbage menace on the railway premises. “I want the railway officials to coordinate with the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) authorities to clear garbage from the railway premises. I want the railway authorities to take all measures to clear encroachment of railway property,” the minister said.
