Bengaluru: Rarely has it happened in the history of Karntaka. The Undergraduate Entrance Test (UGET) of the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) was held before the Common Entrance Test (CET) of the state government on Sunday April 10th yesterday – The reason – the CET was postponed from April 29 and 30 to May 12 and 13 owing to a nationwide transport strike.

1,08,486 candidates had registered to write the test in 148 exam centres. Of these, 57,277 were for medical/dental, 37,587 were engineering, and 13,622 were attending the test for both the streams.

Abhay Kirasur from the city was one such student who wrote the test for both streams. “I’m not sure whether I’m interested in biology or any other engineering subject. So, I attempted both. I’m okay with getting admission to either.” Although some students were keener on pursuing medicine, they also chose to write engineering as plan ‘B’.

A COMEDK release said engineering had 69 per cent attendance, while 74 per cent of those who registered for medical/dental courses took the test.

Most students who wrote the test felt the physics  and Maths paper were too lengthy

Everyone had their reasons to write the exam especially those from outside the state.

The provisional answer keys are notified on the COMEDK website (www.comedk.org) and the final keys will be up on May 25. The ranks will be announced on June 4.
