Bengaluru: The mass leave protest call by police personnel on June 4, has received cold response across the State especially in Mysuru, Bagalkote and Chikkaballapur. The police personnel have withdrawn their protest in Dharwad.
Meanwhile, Poornima, wife of Police Maha Sangha’s President Shashidhar Venugopal was taken into custody for trying to protest at Freedom Park in Bengaluru. Shashidhar was arrested a couple of days earlier by police for provoking the police constables to protest against the state government and police department superior officers.
Tight security has been provided at Ashok Nagar and Frazer town police quarters. The police have reportedly shut the main gate of Adugodi police quarters. Media personnel have been denied entry into the quarters.
As per latest reports, wives of the constables’ were staging protests in the state capital.
Earlier, State home minister G Parmeshwar had warned policemen of vacating from quarters if their family members go for the day long strike Saturday.
Addressing the media on Friday, he had said that the government was well aware of the problems faced by police fraternity and all sorts of measures would be taken to redress those.
A circular was issued on Friday late night, to all the officials to grant weekly off to every police personnel mandatorily.
Top cops have demanded status report from police stations via Twitter and senior officers have warned of taking disciplinary action against the erring police personnel.
Meanwhile, DG & IGP Om Prakash has issued a statement saying that there is 100 per cent attendance across the State today.
