Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has asked the staff of the state-run transport corporation KSRTC to resume work. He also invited them to discuss their issues with transport minister Laxman Savadi.

It can be recalled that employees of transport corporations have been on strike since Friday as they have been frustrated over the inordinate delays in payment of their salaries. The employees want to be considered as government employees and demanded that they should be brought under the government’s payroll, given the same privileges and incentives as any government employee gets.

The CM, in an official statement released on Saturday, said that he had already directed minister Savadi to resolve the issue and added that the latter was making all efforts towards this end. “It is unfortunate that the staff working in transport corporations are protesting by disrupting passenger services. The strike is affecting passengers across the state,” he said, DH reported.

Alleging that the employees’ strike was instigated by vested interests, BSY blamed farmers’ leader Kodihalli Chandrashekhar, who has been a leading figure in the protest.

The CM accused Chandrashekhar of “instigating a section of transport employees to protest”, leading to stone pelting on KSRTC and BMTC buses. “He is responsible for causing loss to public property,” BSY added.
