Bengaluru: Is Chief Minister Siddaramaiah contemplating to change his constituency? Well, his words hint at the same.

The CM, who represents the Varuna constituency, which took birth after delimitation of constituencies, on Saturday hinted that he may contest from Chamundeshwari constituency, which he had represented in the State Assembly for five terms.

Chamundeshwari constituency is close to the CM’s heart as it was the same constituency which gave him political rebirth in 1983 and in 2006.

Addressing a large gathering of supporters at Dodda Maragowdanahalli near Yelwal after laying the foundation for Cauvery water supply works, Siddaramaiah said that he may come back to Chamundeshwari as he has won from the same constituency many times and that he knows the people very well.

“The constituency gave me political birth in 1983 and rebirth in 2006. I am indebted to your affection. If I had lost the 2006 by-election, it would have been end of my political career. I have become Chief Minister because of you, and your contribution is colossal,” an indebted CM told.

“Do you want me to come back to this constituency,” the ebullient Chief Minister asked the audience, which comprised of elected representatives of local bodies from Yelwal and Jayapura hoblis.

A roaring ‘YES’ was an answer to the question shot by the Chief Minister.

However, the CM then turned the topic saying that he had shot the question in lighter vein and that he would speak of politics during some other occasion.
