Bengaluru: CM Siddaramaiah on Sunday criticised the British television channel for airing the documentary ‘India’s Daughter’ saying, “In the first place, a documentary of the kind should not have been produced.”

Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression, but that right should not be exercised to hurt others feelings, he said.

Siddaramaiah’s comment comes despite senior Congress leaders like former Union Minister Shashi Tharoor and other young leaders publicly criticising the ban, in the backdrop of a fierce debate over the documentary.

The Chief Minister made the comments after conferring the Kittur Rani Chennamma Awards on six organisations and 18 women under various categories on International Women’s Day.
