Bangalore: Former chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda has demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the backdrop of the utter defeat of the Congress in the Lok Sabha elections in the state.
Speaking to reporters here, Gowda said the chief minister must own moral responsibility for the defeat.
He said the Congress has suffered a major setback in the Chief Minister’s home district Mysore, while it could register a win in Tumkur, the home district of KPCC Chief Dr Parameshwar.
The votes have taught a befitting lesson to the Congress administration in the state, he said.
“The Congress is routed and the people who wish to see a change have voted for the BJP. The people have high expectations form the new BJP government,” he said. Gowda further said the BJP lost in a few LS constituencies in the state by a margin of a few votes and added the party would lay emphasis on further strengthening its organisation in the days to come. It will also introspect on the reasons for its defeat in some constituencies, he said.
