Vijayapura: The religious leaders have called for a bandh, today – Monday over the government’s proposed move to take over mutts in trouble. However the District Congress Committee has appealed to the religious heads not to call for a Vijayapura bandh.

Moreover, the CM has said they would withdraw the bill which mutts fear is an attempt to take over their institutions.

DCC general secretary S M Patil said that it is not necessary to issue a bandh call when the government has agreed to withdraw the bill. Supporting the bandh call by the Merchants Association too is unfair, he added.

Superintendent of Police D Prakash said that the bandh call is illegal as no organization has been given permission for the bandh. If anyone forcibly close shops and business establishments and creates trouble, stringent action will be taken, the SP has warned.
