Bengaluru: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa is all set to live in ‘Cauvery’, his official quarters from February 27 onwards, which also co-incides with his 77th birthday.
While CM’s family members, including his younger son BY VIjayendra are supervising the refurbishing work going on in Cauvery, if all goes as per the plans then CM BSY will leave from Cauvery to present the state budget on March 5.
Once called a ‘jinxed’ house, things are gradually changing for this beautiful house that has been making and breaking of many governments.
The tag of being jinxed is attached to Cauvery as many believed that political career of leaders like Veerendra Patil, R Gundu Rao, JH Patel and Siddaramaiah (he lost power after tiff with JDS Supremo HD Devegowda. He was the DCM then in the Congress-JDS coalition in 2005) took a nosedive after they started living here.
After this, political leaders always refrained from staying in Cauvery as they believed and feared that their career too will take a nosedive.
However, the myth was busted by former chief minister Jagadish Shettar, who made Cauvery his home when he was appointed as the Assembly Speaker.
He continued to live there even when he was made a minister and his meteoric rise as Chief Minister of the state completely changed the way elected representatives looked at Cauvery.
When Siddaramaiah became the Chief Minister, he too shifted to Cauvery in 2013 and the fact that he conveniently completed his five-year-term again proved that the bunglow being unlucky for occupants due to its faulty vastu was far from being true.
Now BSY is going to shift into this sprawling property on the Kumara Krupa road and as per The New Indian Express, Yediyurappa will officially enter the house at an auspicious time after a Homa.
However, if the refurbishing work of the bunglow is not completed within the deadline, then the CM will temporarily stay at his own residence in Dollar’s Colony for a few more days.
“Currently, the CM is functioning out of his office in Vidhana Soudha, the CM’s home office ‘Krishna’ on Kumara Krupa Road and his residence in Dollar’s Colony in Sanjay Nagar. Since ‘Cauvery’ is located adjacent to ‘Krishna’, it will be convenient for the CM to switch between the two,” reports TNIE.
