CM BSY holds meet over rainfall situation, announces Rs 25,000 compensation

Bengaluru: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Saturday, held an emergency meeting with state revenue minister R Ashok and Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner Manjunatha Prasad to review the rainfall situation in the state.

During the meeting held at his official residence in Bengaluru city, CM BSY discussed the necessary measures needed to be taken as rainfall has been predicted to continue for the next two days.

Meanwhile, Yediyurappa visited the rain-affected areas of Bengaluru’s Hosakerehalli area along with minister Ashok and BBMP officials and announced a compensation of Rs 25,000 to the families that have been affected by the heavy rains.

Speaking during the visit, the CM, according to a report by ANI, said, “Our ministers are looking after the situation of the areas that have been affected due to rain. We have decided to give compensation of Rs 25,000 via cheque to the families whose houses are damaged due to rain.”

R Ashok added that rescue operations are underway and that officers are estimating the loss caused due to yesterday’s heavy rains.

It can be recalled that normal life was disrupted in Bengaluru on Friday night when heavy rains led to water entering houses and vehicles, causing huge losses.
