CID to investigate KPN bus burning on Cauvery bandh day

Bengaluru: The police have decided to hand over the investigation pertaining to the burning of around 30 buses owned by KPN Travels during the bandh on September 12 at Nayanadahalli in Bengaluru to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Uneasy calm prevails in Bengaluru, second victim succumbs The police have taken 11 people, including a woman, into custody in connection with the burning of buses during the bandh over releasing of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. The police have identified the woman as Bhagyashree, who is allegedly associated with some local organizations. According to sources, Bhagyashree took petrol from a parked bike in a bottle and allegedly sprinkled the fuel on KPN buses on Monday night. The sources said that some of the arrested people, during the interrogation, have also confirmed Bhagyashree’s involvement in the violence.

It may be recalled that a mob barged into the depot on September 12 and set fire to parked buses before assaulting the staff. The police have picked up seven suspects who have been booked under various sections of the IPC. On Friday, the police have arrested four persons in this connection. With this the number of people arrested in this case has gone up to 11.
