Bengaluru: The CID police approached the CBI seeking interpol red corner notice against controversial self-proclaimed Godman Nithyananda for skipping the trails and investigation in connection with the allegations of sexual assault against him.
Karnataka is the second state to seek Interpol red corner notice against Nithyananda. Earlier Gujarat is had approached the CBI with such a request.
The Red corner notice is expected to help the CID to locate him.
It has been alleged that through Nepal, Nithyananda has fled to a Latin American country, where he may have established his own country named ‘Kailasa’.
He has been accused of raping a disciple over a five-year period, during her stay in the ashram. In June 2018, a Karnataka trial court framed charges against Nithyananda.
On 20 November 2019, Gujarat Police claimed that Nithyananda fled India after choosing not to attend several court hearings.
