Chitradurga: The Congress on Tuesday October 11 announced that the next of kin of a yatri killed in a road accident in Hiriyur on the evening of Monday October 10 will receive a compensation of Rs. 10 lakh.

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President D. K. Shivakumar said that he will also visit with the family of the victim, Ramesh (35) of the Sagar Taluk in the Shivamogga District.

Shivakumar added that the AICC Presidential election would take place on October 17. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and 40 yatris will vote in separate booths that have been set up.
