Child trafficking case: Four arrested, one shot

Bengaluru: Four persons have been arrested by the Bengaluru police on charges of abducting a child and selling it to another couple here on October 13.

The arrested are Mohammed Noorulla (23), Isaac Khan (19), Abdul Wahid (24) and Shahanaz Khanam (36).

On October 5, the gang had abducted the child Abhiram belonging to Bhimesh and Maheshwari from Heggade Nagar. The gang sold the child to a woman named Shahanaz.

On October 13, the police team on getting credible information raided a location in Bagalur Layout where the accused Noorulla was present. Noorula, in a bid to escape, attacked PSI Nayak and Head Constable Abdul Hameed with a knife. However, Inspector Hariyappa shot at Noorulla’s’s leg and arrested him.

The abducted child has been handed over to its parents.
