Bengaluru: Kiran alias Kumaraswamy, nephew of Shivakumaraiah, the kingpin of the second PU chemistry question paper leak case has reportedly revealed to the CID officials that he himself had supplied the question paper to his uncle.

Question paper leak: Kingpin’s close associate arrested-1An CID official said, “Kiran, who was arrested on Tuesday, revealed that it was a card played by the Shivakumaraiah to hoodwink the police. He has also confessed that both were operating together and he himself had given the question paper to Shivakumaraiah, who had sold the same to several people through his network.”

Earlier during interrogation the kingpin had denied his role in the case. He had also claimed that he had parted ways with Kiran in 2013, after differences between them over sharing the money derived out of question paper leaks.

An official added that Shivakumaraiah and Kiran who were arrested together by Tumakuru police in 2013, had came up with a plan that they should make the police believe that they have parted ways, so that at least one of them would not be caught. As per that, when CCB police picked Shivakumaraiah in 2014, he had not revealed the name of Kiran. He followed the same when the CID sleuths picked him up this time.

“However, Kiran has revealed this, besides confessing that he provided the question paper to his uncle. His statements are being verified,” the official added.

Meanwhile, the CID officials are likely to request the court to extend kingpin Shivakumaraiah’s custody for a few more days as it ends on Friday.
