Bengaluru: Union Minister and BJP Leader H N Ananth Kumar said the Central Government will be ready to assist Karnataka for conducting Kambala, a traditional buffalo race in coastal districts of the state, if the state government brings out an ordinance in this regard.

“Kambala is a traditional sport of Karnataka and its pride. Already, my dear friend Law Minister Shri Ravishankar Prasad has clarified, we are always with the Karnataka on the issue of Kambala. Government of India will be always ready to help and assist Karnataka to see that Kambala is on, if the state government brings out an ordinance,” he told reporters here.

On Eshwarappa-Yeddyurappa spat, Kumar thanked National BJP President Ami Shah for giving a hearing to it despite being busy with five state elections.
“I specially want to thank our national president Amit Shahji for giving that hearing and attention and time to resolve the issue, despite being busy with five state elections,” he said.

K S Eshwarappa and B S Yeddyurappa are at loggerheads, with the latter rasing objections against Sangolli Rayanna brigade, a movement for the upliftment of Dalits and Backward Class communities, started by the former.

Eshwarappa on January 26 had held state-level convention scheduled at Kudala Sangama.
The hearing itself is a good thing to happen and said that the party would working unitedly to see a Congress-Mukt Karnataka in the ensuing state elections, Kumar said.

“I think a very good thing has happened. There will be move forward. The entire party will be working unitedly to see that we will create a Congress-mukt Karnataka, and the BJP will get two-thirds majority in the ensuing Vidhan Sabha elections in Karnataka,” he said.

On UP elections, Kumar said since both the Congress-SP alliance cannot talk about the misrule and lack of development, they have created “UP ke bete” theme, which will be put to use during the campaign in the ensuing Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

“Since Congress and SP cannot talk about the misrule and lack of development in Uttar Pradesh, they are trying to create such a theme (UP Ke Bete – meaning Sons Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav of UP),” he said.

If any party that could give a clean and good governance is the BJP, he added.
