Bengaluru: The Central Government led by Narendra Modi has been trying to destabilize Congress government in Karnataka by conducting raids on the residences of Congress ministers, legislators and leaders by the Income Tax officials, according to Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) working president Dingesh Gundu Rao.

Addressing Congress workers gathered at the Freedom Park to stage protest – Satyameva Jayate – against BJP for making baseless allegations against Congress government, Dinesh Gundu Rao said BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa has become a laughing stock in the state by making baseless allegations of Congress government paying Rs 1,000 crore to Congress high command to remain in power. “I demand Yeddyurappa release the documents to prove his allegations immediately. I also demand the Income Tax authorities to look into this matter. State BJP leaders should pressurize the Central Government to probe the matter. The BJP leaders are not doing anything in this regard. BJP state president has been busy in issuing statements on a daily basis,’’ Dinesh Gundu Rao said.

Recalling Yeddyurappa’s prediction on the resignation of three Congress ministers in the state, Rao said Yeddyurappa made this prediction three months ago but nothing has happened till now. “Yeddyurappa said that he would send Siddaramaiah to prison within 24 hours of BJP coming to power in the next Assembly elections. I am challenging Yeddyurappa, if he had any evidence, to send Siddaramaiah to prison now itself instead of waiting for 15 months. Yeddyurappa had been to jail. He had an experience of going to jail. He had experience in corruption. A person like Yeddyurappa can make only false allegations against Congress government,’’ he said.

The KPCC working president said Yeddyurappa, by making false allegations, has been losing confidence of people and some of the BJP leaders have conspired against him by encouraging him to issue statements against Congress government. “BJP leaders such as Ananth Kumar, Sadananda Gowda and Jagadish Shettar are firing salvos on Congress government from Yeddyurappa’s shoulder. While Yeddyurappa is busy in using statements, these three leaders are silent on the same issue. Why are they not insisting for a CBI probe in this matter’’ he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr G Parameshwara, president, KPCC, said there was rampant corruption during the BJP rule in the state. “The state was in number one position as far as development is concerned. No development took place during the BJP regime. BJP’s misrule was responsible for the lack of development in the state,’’ Parameshwara said.
