Bengaluru: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said that the Central government is interested in starting electric sky-bus transport between Bengaluru and Mysuru and if the state agrees it can be implemented.

Addressing the gathering after performing the ground-breaking ceremony for much expected 10-lane Bengaluru- Mysuru express highway project here on Saturday, he said that the sky-bus project will be started in Delhi and tender process would begin on April 15. The cost of one-kilo-meter metro train project is around Rs. 3,500 crores, while the sky-bus costs less than Rs. 50 crores.

This is a bus in the model of train. Just like metro trains, over-bridges are constructed for their movement. But metro trains travel over the bridges, but these sky-bus travels below the bridge like hanging cradles.

There will be stations here and there just like metro. Around 150 passengers can sit in a bogie and 2 to 6 bogies may travel at once. The speed of the sky-bus is around 100 km per hour.
