Bengaluru: All II pre-university examination centres across the State have been fitted with closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, which will be continuously monitored by officials in real-time.

This comes after the Department of Pre-University Education (DPUE) made CCTV cameras mandatory at all centres.

C. Shikha, Director, DPUE, said all the centres have CCTV cameras, but acknowledged that some government PU colleges do not have the facility installed.

Strict orders have been issued to staff banning them from carrying mobile phones into the centres. Only the chief superintendent of the centre is exempt from this ban. This year, the department has also decided to install GPS in vehicles that will be transporting question papers from the district treasuries to the examination centres.

A total of 6.9 lakh students will be appearing for the examination.

Lecturers, who are invigilators, will be wearing black bands in order to register their demand for hike in salaries.
