CCB sleuths crack fake stamp racket, four nabbed

Bengaluru: A fake stamp racket has been busted by CCB officials and four persons were nabbed for forging revenue papers and selling them to clients.

Krishna B.D. (42) and his associates Srinivasa (46), Narasimhamurthy (36) and Nadeem (23) are the arrested.

Stamp papers of various denominations were created and forged for clients who wanted rental agreements, marriage certificates, change of address and lost property, which is mandatory for official purposes.

The accused in collusion with a tout, Raghavendra got colour photocopies, a stamp paper with franking to be used in some other name and for some other purpose. Later, with the help of two notaries, identified as B.M. Chandrashekhar and A.S. Narayana Reddy, the accused forged the signature and seal of the sub-registrar to hand-over to the clients for Rs. 500 to Rs. 1,000.

Krishna, the prime accused in the racket, was involved in a similar offence in 2005 and was arrested and remanded to judicial custody. He was released on bail five years ago but continued with his activities.

Senior police officer said that more persons seem to be involved in this racket and investigation is on to identify them.
