CCB files charge sheet in Malleswaram bomb blast case

Bangalore :The Central Crime Branch sleuths submitted before the First Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, the first chargesheet against 14 alleged terror suspects behind the April 17 Malleswaram blast on Saturday.

This is for the first time a terror attack investigation in the state has been concluded and the accused chargesheeted within the 180-day deadline. The CCB have cracked the terror module, which mainly comprise members of two proscribed outfits Al Ummah and All India Jehad Committee.

The chargesheet comprises three volumes running into 7,445 pages. It has 201 documents and 260 witnesses have been cited. The roles of other accused namely Panna Ismail, Bilal Malik, Police Fukruddin, Paravai Basha, Alikhan Kutti and others are being further investigated.

The blast occurred near the BJP office in Malleswaram and injured 18 persons. Twenty three vehicles and 56 buildings in the vicinity were damaged and losses are estimated to be around 50 lakh.
